In 1924 Mount Everest was still unclimbed, this book is the official record of the expedition undertaken that year.
The mountain had already seen two expeditions climb progressively higher up its flanks to reach 27,000 feet by 1922. Thanks to the knowledge gained the team were confident of further progress however there were still many questions unanswered such as the effects of climbing at altitude.
This official record was scribbed by the members of the expedition and is an important record of the state of high-altitude mountaineering. The expedition ended with the tragic dissapearance of George Mallory and Andrew Irvine.
This edition features the full original text and illustrations alongside some previously unpublished pencil sketches and watercolours.
